The Children's Initiative, responding to America's Promise, the campaign on behalf of children and youth founded by General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret) is building a grand coalition - San Diego's Promise - comprised of corporations, foundations, organizations, public agencies, service clubs, faith communities, youth and parents to address the multitude of needs of children and youth.

San Diego's Promise has established a Business Involvement Committee, and through leadership from the Children's Initiative has developed a strategic plan to "build an army" of businesses and individuals for San Diego County's kids.

The San Diego's Promise website - serves as a template for a network of
America's Promise websites in communities across the United States.
