CHILD AND FAMILY STRENGTHENING ADVISORY BOARD
The Children’s Initiative works to improve coordination and collaboration in the child welfare system by staffing the San Diego County Child and Family Strengthening Advisory Board (CFSAB). The CFSAB advises the Board of Supervisors, the Chief Administrative Officer, the Health and Human Services Agency Director, and the Child and Family Well-Bring Director on issues relating to child and family well-being. The twenty-five-member board consists of constituents from each Supervisorial District, representatives for former foster youth, congregate care providers, legal counsel, and others, in addition to the directors of various child related departments and agencies.

The CFSAB serves as the designated child abuse prevention coordinating body and the local children’s trust fund body. It is the successor to both Polinsky Children’s Center Advisory Board and the San Diego County Foster Care Services Committee.

The work of the Children’s Initiative for the Board allows for streamlined communication, transparent monitoring, and expanded communication and oversight regarding the well-being of children and families in San Diego County. In addition to coordinating the CFSAB, our work also supports the three work groups: Lived Expert Action Partners, Placement and Caregiver Support, and Child and Family Well-Being. The work groups serve as open forums for learning and discussion on current trends, community needs, and available resources for those involved in supporting children and families in the County.
